Design
Located in the Uptown Design District of Palm Springs, Workshop Kitchen + Bar is the 2015 James Beard Foundation Award winner for Best Restaurant Design, created by renowned architecture firm SOMA. Originally an art gallery then later a city council then movie theatre, the building contains 27-foot ceilings, manipulated by SOMA to devise an industrial aesthetic using poured concrete, yet at the same time, create a light and open space. Seating is available via high stools at the bar, private booths, and a signature communal table running the length of the space. Seating 74, the courtyard offers an additional dining experience, with views of the historic building with Spanish-eclectic elements. Workshop also features a semi-private dining room for 12 - 18 guests with direct views to the lively main dining area and courtyard spaces.
